The outlook for the Pacers in the 2019-2020 season looks promising, despite many roster changes in the offseason. Three players left unexpectedly. Guard Darren Collison retired at 31 to pursue personal goals, and another backcourt contributor, Tyreke Evans, was banned for 2 years for substance abuse. Key player Bojan Bogdanovic left for the Utah jazz.

On the positive side, head coach Nate McMillan will benefit from some shrewd acquisitions, such as Malcolm Brogdon, the 2017 rookie of the year. Joining him are forward T. J. Warren and guards T. J. McConnell and Jeremy Lamb.

Complicating the picture is the uncertain availability of the team’s best player, Victor Oladipo, who ruptured a tendon in his knee in the 2018-2019 season. Although the Pacers have a talented squad, how soon he returns and whether he can regain his previous form will determine how deep Indiana can go into the playoffs.
